About the Captain

U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captain Jamie Bassett, has nearly 3 decades on the water and is a commercial shell fisherman turned guide.  Jamie's intimate knowledge of the Monomoy & South Beach Flats System, in all conditions and seasons, is thorough.  Since 2010 he has logged over 600 Monomoy trip days documented with the Massachusetts Division Of Marine Fisheries, with over 520 of those days logged from 2015 - 2020.  If you would like to head out deep sea fishing the Atlantic, Jamie is not your charter captain.  However, if you would like to hunt and sight fish for Stripers in-shore, with a focus on nearly everything Monomoy & South Beach's Interior & Exterior Flats systems have to offer, then look no further.  While nothing can be certain, Jamie will bring his local knowledge to bear, working to put you on the fish.

About the Rig

For the 2021 Season, Jamie will be running a 19 Foot 80 inch wide 1980, shallow draft Carolina Skiff with a F115HP 4 Stroke Yamaha.  The rig is equipped with a Garmin 741xs GPSMAP Touchscreen, a Cobra VHF system, required safety equipment, a stern poling platform, shown in the above picture and an 80 inch wide casting deck with leaning post.  Accessing Monomoy in skinny water is challenging during the best of circumstances but the Carolina Skiff is a surgical workhorse and excels at this task.  For decades, it has been a favorite among professional shell fishermen who depend upon access to make a living and it really fits the bill for guiding clients.  It is wide and comfortable platform that can run on plane in shallow water, can come tight to an edge, can handle chop, and can usually be floated over really tough spots.  It is the ideal flats rig.
